My 2017 Affirmation Board

I remember first learning about vision boards from an Oprah show many years ago. She talked about how she had dreams and wanted to hold herself accountable. Over the years, I have had several vision\goals boards that I loved and actually worked it’s purpose. This year I wanted something different. I wanted an Affirmation Board! I wanted to be able to speak boldly to myself daily! My women’s group at my church made boards one night and I thought it was the perfect time to get started on 2017!

It’s a little bit different than a vision board because it doesn’t just have pictures of “things that I want to do” but words of affirmation and motivation. I don’t know about you, but I read devotionals almost everyday and I love to speak things into existence. So I figured why not create a board that reminds me of why I push so hard.  I do have my goals for 2017 written down in my planner, just not on this board.

I really believe God desires that we call those things that be not, as though they were. And since we all know words have power, I use my affirmations to speak things about myself or my situation as if they were. It doesn’t stop there. You still need to take the next step by acting on them. So if your affirmation is that you are debt free, you need to get busy making a budget and stop eating out every other day to save money. If you want to start your business, you need to speak that you are a business owner, but also take the necessary steps to make it happen.

Just remember, the power was not in the board or the words printed on the paper, the power was in the fact that I believed I could and I did. I acted on it.  So when I need that motivation, I look up at my board and read a few aloud over and over and I get to work! I plan to add new phrases throughout the year to continue to motivate myself to grow and be all that God has called me to be!

Turn your words into attitude, then behaviors, then habits and reshape your life! Want to learn how I made my board? Keep reading….

I started with a cork board, 1\4 yard of fabric, ribbon and a few decorations. All supplies came from Hobby Lobby and was less than $13 total.

I then added fabric to the front of the board and stapled on the back. Be sure to pull tight so that there are no wrinkles and cut off any excess.

Once my fabric was added to the board , I used my hot glue gun to add my decorations and ribbon.

Now you just add your motivation\affirmation pictures with cute push pins. I found them in magazines and printed some of my favorites sayings\verses.

Some of my favorites sayings are below:

I am NOT afraid!
Fade into the background?…. NO way!!
I mean… This is SO good!

Cheers to a wonderful, purposeful and intentional 2017!!
